My Sewing Make Nine 2024
Welcome 2024! As most people do, I see the new year as a way to reset the year, make goals and list things I want to accomplish. Per usual, I am a bit late to making my list, but better late than never.
Last year, sewing/crafting wise, I was in a funk. I barely sewed at all and made just about nothing… nada… zip. I just could not get into it. My creative juices were not flowing. I was barren. I kept wanting to do something… anything, but it just was not happening. Does anyone else get that way?
This year, I am loosely making a ‘MAKE NINE’ list. My goal is to hopefully make something from each category on my list. But let’s be real, I might not get to everything and if I at least give it my best effort that will be good enough for me. I will be updating on the projects I am working on. PLEASE HELP ME BE ACCOUNTABLE! I’m begging
Let me know in the comments what you are planning on making this year!! 🙂
1. Vest
I love puffer vests! There have been so many cute outfits with them and I want to make my own. I purchased a pattern off of Etsy last year and never used it. 🙁
But this is the year. I will make that vest. I am thinking maybe a patchwork like style. What do you think?
I have linked the puffer vest pattern I purchased on Etsy here!
2. Pajama Set
I live in comfy pants around the house especially on weekends and plus how cute does the matching pajamas trend look. I want in on it. There are a few different patterns I have found so I am not for sure which kind I will make yet. But I definitely would like a nice cozy matching set with a super cute print!
I either want to make the Seamwork Joss Pants with the Seamwork Clarke top, or the Dressy Talk Patterns Pajama Pattern.
3. Quilted Jacket
In my opinion, the stitching of quilted items is down right gorgeous to me. I have a couple different patterns I am looking at to create a quilted jacket.
Here are the options I am looking at:
The Style Arc Logan Shacket – this coat I would sew with a wool or wool like fabric. It wouldn’t necessarily be a quilted jacket like I have as a vision, but the pattern seems so cozy. Who doesn’t love the style of an oversized shacket.
Know Me pattern ME2057 by Simplicity – This pattern is created by Alissah Threads. I found her on Instagram and all of the things she creates are amazing. I love seeing everything she creates and this pattern she made is no different. She brings me so much inspiration.
McCall’s M8346 patten – I own this pattern and have not used it yet. What a total shame is that?? I’m telling you, complete slacker right here. This picture on the front of this pattern totally sold me. I found it combing through the Joann’s pattern drawers.
4. Dress or Romper
I always love a new dress especially since I feel like I am always wearing the same ones to every event. If I’m not wearing the same worn out styles I’m trying to buy a new one that I just end up being unsatisfied with. Here are the pattern contenders I am thinking about. Which one shall be the lucky one? More like which one will I be lucky enough to wear?
Therese Dress by Swimstyle Pattern – This is an assymentical top dress with a cinched opening on the side. This is a very out of my comfort zone type of dress but I think it will be great to have on vacation with me this year on the beach. There are also different styles that are included in the pattern. It can also be made into a top or without the cinched opening.
The Dragon Fruit Dress by Camiya – I already own this pattern and in a tiresome last minute attempt made a dress out of it. The only thing is I didn’t love it and it didn’t come out right. I blame this on the rush job and I think wrong steps I took. I want to give this pattern a second chance and try to make something fun and beautiful out of it (without all the user error this time.)
5. Athletic Skort
I haven’t quite found a sewing pattern for this one yet. dang. As they might say, I am a golf girly. I’ve been playing golf for a while now and love spending my free time on the golf course. Especially in a cute outfit. I think golf attire is so cute and I love curating my golf outfit. That being said, golf clothes are EXPENSIVE and most of the time boring. Not that making my own will make it cheaper, let’s just be honest. However, this will allow me to be able to find fun prints to help elevate my golf attire and stand out on the course.
Please if you have a good athletic skort pattern, drop it in the comments.
I will definitely update this if slash when I find one.
6. Duffle Bag
I do not have a pattern in mind for this one. My vision is to create and hack my own pattern together. I’m unsure how this will go but it’s worth a try, right? I want to create a nice duffle like weekender bag. Something that you can throw a bunch of junk into and hit the road for the weekend. I for one love a bag that can fit all of my ‘just in case’ and ‘I just might need that’ stuff.
7. Sling Bag
Sling bags are just so convenient to me. I love purses don’t get me wrong, but I love being able to have all the essentials just bam right there. There’s no huge space for where I can shove a bunch of junk (believe me if there’s room in my purse I will fill it up.) It also feels more secure to me. I don’t have to worry about sitting my purse down or carrying it or someone taking it. It is just right there on me. I have seen a ton of tutorials on these types of bags. If I find a pattern I will link it and if I made my own, I will make a tutorial.
8. Shirt
The shirt I want to make is Simplicity’s S8416 pattern. This is a button up top. The pattern I have linked shows back variations but I would not want those. I would make mine with a normal back. I think this top would make a nice dress up or down shirt for work or everyday wear. It will be a nice basic to add to me collection.
9. Quilt
As I mentioned before, I love the quilted look but I also love to quilt as well. I want to make it a goal this year to start and finish a quilt. I will need to brainstorm to figure out a design and color scheme. Help me out in the comments, let me know some of your favorites.
How did you like my make nine list? I better start this up pretty soon if I want everything on my list to get done.
Let me know what you are making this year or what you want to see me make this year!
